You are my safe place.

When the world seems a scary place,

When I can’t quite remember where I put my shoes,

When I doubt I’ll ever get back to the me I remember,

Your calming voice reminds me that the shadows are nothing to fear.

That my shoes are behind the bedroom door,

That the me I’ve misplaced isn’t lost

But hidden behind amongst the fears of a troubled mind.

Your heart beckons to mine,

Wooing me from my crouched position,

My opaque stupor,

To safety, to home,

To you.
