Transparency is gift.

The ability to be one’s true self, accept that, and share it with the world.

But herein lies its liability.

To be transparent is to shed pretence.

To be unmasked is to become visible.

Not that you were invisible to the world before,

But now you’re thoughts, emotions, your inward parts, are now visible.

Literally inscribed on your face.

That cloak of pretence that you wore to protect yourself from conflict, is now gone.

Leaving you vulnerable to attack from friends and foes alike.

To be unmasked is to live honestly,

But it is also risk exposure.

I’m beginning question it’s value.
