They laid side by side in grass, gazing up at the familiar night sky. Cradled in the crook of his arm she turned to face him.
“I have loved you in and out of time. You have been my favorite thing and I will love you always.”
Moved by her speech rolled to his side and kissed her deeply. They parted with a sigh. As she slowly touched his face, a tear slid down her cheek.
Before he could respond, the field was set ablaze with the harsh glow from neon bulbs. Helplessly, he watched the love of his life dragged behind the men towards the van. Her words echoing in the hallows of his mind.
