“The mountains are so dominant
that some days the people refuse
to look at them as children
turn away from the fathers who beat them”
~ Jim Harrison from Songs of Unreason

The feeling I feel when faced the idea of facing anything anymore.

To climb is exhausting.

To sit is exhausting.

To self examine is exhausting.

To shield myself from the truths I know exist just under the surface.

I bury my head in the sand.

Like an ostrich hiding from a foe,

Like a child hiding from discipline.

Deferring battles I must fight.

Hiding from a war I won’t wage.

Closed eyes, closed heart.
